Malawi's tobacco market is opened today, April 12, at Lilongwe Auction Floors. 16,000 tobacco bales were presented to the market, with 2,600 bales expected to be sold on the first day of the auction. 10 companies have already secured their slots to participate in the tobacco marketing auctions for 2023. In addition, tobacco production in 2023 is projected at 126,000MT, a significant increase from the 85,000MT produced in 2022.
