Upon being asked about the main trends in seafood in week 47, clear answers were given regarding the scarcity of mainly three products: octopus, turbot and European lobsters. To face such scarcity, octopus is being replaced by common cuttlefish in the market and American lobster is regarded as an alternative supply for the European lobsters. Notwithstanding the rise in prices derived by such scarcity, consumption is on a slightly upward trend and forecasts show that this trend will remain until week 49. A yearly-high increase is foreseen for week 51, in the Christmas season.
