Regional Taiwanese governments making US pork imports difficult

US pork imports were given access to Taiwan on January 1st, 2021. However, regional governments in the country are developing rules preventing pork from entering their jurisdictions. The use of ractopamine in American pork feed is the root of the issue with consumers citing safety concerns. The Taiwanese government maintains that strict testing of pork imports is being conducted, even on those within acceptable ractopamine levels.
