The low mortality rates have positively impacted the productivity of Chilean Atlantic salmon, reaching 4.50 kilograms (kg) harvested per smolt received in Q3 2023, a 4% year-on-year (YoY) increase. Cumulative mortality in closed groups for Atlantic salmon decreased by 9.8% in Q3 2023, compared to 13.4% in 2022. Rainbow trout also saw a decline in cumulative mortality, reaching 7.2% in Q3 2023. The Coho salmon season, just beginning, has a cumulative mortality of 4.4%. Total harvested biomass for all three species in Q3 2023 was 749 thousand tons, with Atlantic salmon contributing 575.36 thousand tons, rainbow trout 39.27 thousand tons, and Coho salmon 134.76 thousand tons. These figures reflect increased harvests for Coho and Atlantic salmon and a slight decrease for trout, with average harvest weights of 5 kg, 4.2 kg, and 3.3 kg, respectively, as of Q3 2023.
