The last couple of weeks were characterized by the continuous price increase for tomatoes, sweet peppers, cauliflower, and other greenhouse crops at the major wholesale markets in London. Thus, current prices are 10-20% higher than prices reported in mid-January. According to the insights from several traders, the price pattern for the current period is above the one registered in previous years. Relatively colder weather explains this during January in the major supplier countries, especially Spain and Netherlands, resulting in higher energy costs and a lag in output.
