As Thailand is import heavy on sunflower oil, the expected shortage is influencing the canned tuna procesors (sunflower oil is a main ingredient used when processing). As a result, canned tuna prices have risen to about USD 3-4 /carton. Also, some processors paused production, and some factories shifted to use soybean oil instead, which also influencing the price of soybean oil in Thailand.
