Shortage of cowpea supply this season in Brazil.

Although there was an increase in the planted area of around 2%, the longer drought reduced cowpea harvest volumes by 10% this year in the beans export hub region of Brazil, Mato Grosso. Exporters have struggled to meet their contracts. At this point on, it is practically an impossible mission to source cowpea beans in Brazil, one of the mostly exported variety of beans in the country, except for the sub-variety Brown Eyed Beans.
