In Mueang Samut Sakhon, Thailand Officers of the Inspector and Quarantine Division inspected a cold storage room where smuggled meat was hidden and imported without permission.

The finding was a total of 70 tons of pork belly from Italy and Germany, 40 tons of ribs from Brazil, 25 tons of chicken legs from Brazil, and 25 tons of Chicken legs from Turkey, resulting in 160 tons of smuggled meat.

Such problems could damage the pig and chicken farming industry in Thailand, especially for small farmers. And could cause the spread of animal plague and the risk of consuming livestock products that are not of standard quality. All items have been prosecuted under import procedure for the benefit of epidemic prevention and control.
