The province of Sofala has this year reported a loss of up to 150 billion meticais due to restrictions imposed to combat the covid-19 pandemic. From the expected annual exports of 7 000 tons of fishery products from Sofala Province, only 3,000 tons were exported this year due to said importing countries' restrictions. The head of the Department of Sea, Inland Waters, and Fisheries stated many countries the received their fishery products had closed their borders.
