In the Korean wholesale market (Kangseo market), 6kg watermelons are more actively traded while 12, 13kg ones are not as popularly traded in the market. Currently, prices are around KRW 1,500 (USD 1.16) per kg. The sweetness of the product is considered to be the key to increasing the demand. Buyer demand for watermelons noticeably decreases during cloudy weather. Apple watermelons and black watermelons are not as popular with the customers.
