The 2022/23 Spanish Hass avocado campaign is expected to start in mid-November. There is a 30% YoY drop in production forecasted due to bad weather and low water levels. Producers are considering pruning trees to stop production to keep the trees alive for the next campaign. Producers are also irrigating with wells that are salty due to the low water levels, which could negatively affect the quality of fruit produced. As of W40, European markets are still receiving Peruvian avocados of good quality and high-fat content, but they mature quickly. Peruvian origin avocado shipments to Europe are expected to finish in the coming weeks. In W40, prices for Peruvian-origin avocados stand at USD 2.23-2.14/kg for big sizes 12, 14, and 16 in the wholesale market. The small caliber is more expensive due to its scarcity, at USD 2.91/Kg for 22-24s.
