From January 1, 2022, there will be a new way to distribute among the meat processing plants the quota of 20K tons of beef that since 2018 have been able to enter the United States with tariff advantages: the meat processing plants and producers that favor the exports of high-value cuts shall be prioritized.

The government believes it is necessary to define the parameters for the future distribution of the current rate quota under general criteria of efficiency and equity and considers that the distributive criterion should ensure the regular supply of meat throughout the entire period to achieve the consolidation of a Country Brand in the US market.

What happened in the previous period was that although the quota was covered in advance, the business was not as good as anticipated, since Argentina aspired to send 20K tons of high-value chilled cuts to the US market, but the meat processing plants ended up covering the quota with cooled cuts of lower individual value. A lot was sent but at a low price.
