626 thousand metric tons (mt) of pollock were harvested, exceeding the 2021 level by 10%. The fishing mainly occurred in the Northern Sea of Okhotsk and West Kamchatka subzones. The fleet switched to a search mode of operation, so the fishing areas increased in the area. In the Western Kamchatka and Kamchatka-Kuril subzones, the total catch amounted to 440 thousand/mt of pollock, 184.7 thousand/mt in the North Okhotsk subzone, an increase of 15% year-over-year (YoY). The situation in the Pacific herring fishery has noticeably improved. The production volume exceeded the level of this period last year by 7%, up to 94.5 thousand/mt.

The cod catch amounted to 37.6 thousand/mt, including 6.7 thousand/mt in the West Bering Sea zone, 11.0K/mt in the East Kamchatka zone, and 10.9 thousand/mt in the Sea of Okhotsk. Production is expected to increase as the number of vessels increases. Now, pollock fishing in the Sea of Okhotsk is carried out by 100 vessels; ten vessels work on herring, seven on cod.
