2019/20 US pear export crop data show an incredible market presence for pears in Mexico, according to recent USDA data. The US exported 83,815 MT south of the border, accounting for 90% of Mexico's pear imports, with Argentina, Chile, and China taking up the remainder. Anjou pears made up the majority of exports with 83.7% followed by Barlett and Bosc at 10.5% and 4.5%, respectively. Mexico has a preference for American pears due to their quality and year-round availability.
