Sweet orange demand expected to soar during New Year season in Indonesia

Indonesia's chinese new year 2022 festive starting from January 2022 to Feburary 2022 will see massive consumption of sweet oranges, mainly honey ponkam, sweet nanfeng, sweet shatang variants in large cities of Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Semarang, Bandung.

Importers are racing to spend all their leftover import quota before week 49 to cover this, on top of demands during the Christmas and New Year season. The estimated consumption of 30+ FCL during this period will coincide with simultaneous demand from neighboring countries of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand which celebrate Chinese New Year, putting pressures to purchasers and exporters facing logistics challenges.
