In China, the growing import needs from the recovery of its pig production represent an opportunity for Argentine agricultural exports. In terms of prices, the outlook for Argentine sorghum is encouraging, taking into account that this grain is listed above corn in the international market. In fact, based on the greater demand for exports to China, during the month of August prices ranged between US$150 and US$158/ton in the Rosario area. Corn, in the same month, barely exceeded U$140/ton. Aiming at the new 2020/21 cycle, prices offered for the May 2021 position have already appeared at U$140 -145/ton, which allows projecting gross margins that, with average yields, exceed those estimated for corn in the south of Córdoba and downtown from Santa Fe, among other areas. This makes it a profitable alternative, especially for those regions where growing corn is riskier due to environmental factors.
