The Greek broccoli season has started, with new plants being planted weekly. The September produce is very irregular due to rain and high temperature, preventing exports. However, high demand from the domestic market has pushed prices up to USD 1,70/kg for filmed broccoli and USD 1,90/kg for broccoli on ice.

North European broccoli producing countries such as Sweden, Norway, and Denmark are empty of new production while Spain still counts losses from hail damage. Even Polish buyers are looking for broccoli from Greece and Italy, but unfortunately there are limited quantities on offer. In general, there appears to be limited volumes of broccoli in European markets this year.
