Price jump of Indonesia palm kernel expeller in the month of November

The price of palm kernel expeller (PKE) at the global level has experienced quite a rise in the past week. In the week opener this week, PKE is offered at the FOB price of USD 170/MT, up from its price in the second week of November 2020 at USD 145/MT. A number of manufacturers pointed out the surge in demand as the main driving factor for this price jump, and the low supply of PKE that can be offered by other major exporting countries such as Malaysia.

This significant increase in price also marks the second time that the price of PKE has risen in November 2020. Some experts believe that the price can go up even more considerably before the end of December 2020 as most livestock companies would want to secure PKE stock for their farmed animals prior to the long Christmas and New Year break.
