Data released earlier this week by the local government of the Central Java regency shows that the production output of rice in this province in the span of June to August 2020 was recorded at 75 KMT, as accumulated from around 12 producing-regions in this province. This recorded output is a surplus, considering that the projected demand for rice until the end of the year in this province would be at around 60 KMT. According to the government officials, the production surplus can be allocated to supply the demand of other regions in Indonesia that are struggling with low productivity, or to be kept in the government's inventory to anticipate a possible long drought during the summer this year.
