Sanctions, difficulties with import supplies, and a ban on grain exports will not severely impact the 2022 sowing campaign in Russia. Farmers have a stock of imported seeds or are ready to switch to domestic ones.
According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, the total sown area in 2022 will be 81.3M/ha - almost 1M/ha more than a year earlier.
Most of the agrarian regions of the country - Krasnodar Territory, Rostov, Kurgan, Penza, Kirov Region, and others - plan to increase the area under crops significantly.
At the same time, the sown areas of soybeans, grain peas, and sugar beet will increase.
The current agricultural season should bring a good harvest, farmers believe.
The Ministry of Agriculture expects to collect 123 MMT of grain in the country.
