The usage of dates as alternative ingredient to produce cereal drink in Indonesia

Aside from the direct consumption by casual consumers, imported dates in Indonesia have also now been absorbed by the national food manufacturers as the ingredient to produce cereal drink. During the production process, the dates would be mixed with other ingredients such as wheat and egg powder. Dates are chosen as an alternative ingredient for cereal as this commodity is a good source of complex carbohydrate and it contains healthier glucose as opposed to conventional white sugar. At the moment, the national food manufacturing industry is capable of sourcing around 30% of the total imported dates nationally.
