Three Productive Projects for Agricultural Development Approved in Guatemala

The Guatemalan government approved three productive projects to improve the agricultural industry. The first project will implement infrastructure for broiler chicken production in San Cristóbal Verapaz and Alta Verapaz and will benefit 61 associates. The plan will strengthen food security and income generation in the area through the production, marketing, and consumption of animal protein. This project will increase the weekly chicken supply by 27K lbs per week. The second project is the implementation of a collection center for vegetables, which will benefit 337 associates of Patzicia, Chimaltenango. The associates will have adequate space and environment to collect 300 tons of vegetables daily. The third approved project is the implementation of productive infrastructure and equipment for drying cardamom. This project will benefit 126 associates of San Miguel Tucurú, in Alta Verapaz. This last project will be equipped with five gas dryers, with a capacity of 50 quintals each, which will process 500 quintals of cherry cardamom per week.
