In Dec-24, fresh tomato prices in Egypt saw a significant decrease of 40% month-on-month (MoM), dropping to USD 117.95/mt (EGP 6,000/mt), compared to USD 196.58/mt (EGP 10,000/mt) in Nov-24. This sharp decline is attributed to the high availability of tomatoes in the market, likely due to the peak of the harvest season. Increased supply has led to lower prices as sellers adjust to the market's abundance, resulting in a substantial reduction in cost for consumers and traders alike.
