Fishery Exports in the Muğla Region of Turkey Increased 40% YoY in 2022

Muğla is an important aquaculture producing region in Turkey, especially for trout, sea bream, sea bass, milokopi and meagre. The fish produced in the facilities located in the city center and districts are taken to the facilities for processing for sale as fillets or frozen. 2022's total exports amounted to USD 750M reaching the expected target, an increase of 40% YoY. In 2021, 97,033MT of aquatic products were exported, generating a revenue of USD 564M.

Fish were sold to 84 countries, primarily the USA, Russia, and Japan, contributing to Turkey's economy. Most of the exports consisted of sea bream and sea bass. Additionally, there has been a significant increase in trout exports in recent years.
