Congestion at ports on the US west coast has continued to worsen in recent weeks. There are reported to be over 30 vessels waiting to be unloaded in South California at the Port of Long Beach and Los Angeles as well as an additional 20 vessels anchored outside the Port of Oakland. For US agricultural importers, this is causing 30-45 day delays in cargo arrival, while for exporters, missed sailing continues to be the norm. The delays are expected to last well into Q2 2020 with little relief in sight.
