Between 2015 and the first 11 months of 2020, Spain officially became the leading exporter of frozen pork to the Asian market, with exports escalating nearly fourfold. The escalation was supported by surging demand, especially from China (USD 2,036.62 million, +130.81% YoY), which drove Spain's pork exports to a historic high. As China abruptly intensified sourcing the Spanish pork supply, the trend was also closely related to the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak, which decimated China's domestic pork supplies.
