Global Demand for Cassava Starch Driven by Cereal Prices

Thai cassava starch price rose by +7.31% YoY to USD 0.47/kg in W1 May-22. The rising price is driven by the global demand for cassava starch, as one of the cassava starch used for producing ethanol. It reflected that Thai cassava starch export value increased by +42% YoY and +33% YoY in volume in 2021. In the first two months of 2022 Thai cassava starch export also surpassed USD 316 million worth 659 thousand tons, an increase of +17% YoY in value and +7.8% YoY in volume.
