The wholesale price of French lamb rose by 8.75% YoY. The price of lamb in France stood at USD 8.72 per kg in W2 Jan 2022, compared to the previous year was USD 8.02 per kg. The UK is the main supply of lamb in France decreased production by 11% led the price to increase in January 2022. Despite the UK’s low production of lamb, France continued to increase its import due to the relaxation of the Covid-19 restriction. In the first ten months of 2021, France imported USD 335M of UK lamb, 165% YoY compared to the same period a year ago. It is reflected that recovered demand for lamb meat in France at the same time tight supply of UK lamb meat led the price to surge in Jan 2022.
