Improved Demand From The US and Disruption in Shipping Mexican Lettuce Cause the Price to Rise

The wholesale price of lettuce in Mexico rose by +7.69% YoY. The price in W3 Jan 2021 stood at MXN 14 per piece in W3 Jan 2021, which was MXN 13 per piece in the same period a year ago. High demand in the US for Mexican lettuce due to re-opening restaurants amid the Covid-19 restriction led the US to increase the imported products. The distribution of Mexican lettuce was disrupted due to recent road blocking storms and heavy snow. High demand from the US and shipping problems led to Mexican lettuce prices increasing in January 2022.
