The wholesale price of fresh common potatoes in the Peruvian market declined by 37.66% YoY, reaching USD 0.27/kg in Nov-23 from USD 0.43/kg in Nov-22. Despite a 22.72% MoM increase from USD 0.22 in Oct-23, signaling a gradual recovery, prices have generally remained stable since May-23, albeit at lower levels compared to 2022. This price trend is occurring as Peru anticipates further potential agricultural challenges due to drought caused by El Niño phenomenon, with projections indicating an 8% reduction in potato production, equivalent to 481.68 thousand tons less than the previous year.
