Frozen Tilapia Prices Keep Rising in China Due to High Demand

The wholesale price of frozen whole tilapia in China rose +7% YoY to 3.92 USD/KG in the fourth week of December 2021. The price increase was driven by the high demand for Chinese tilapia in the domestic and global markets. Meanwhile, China's tilapia exports have decreased in the last 5 years to 191.52M USD in 2020. Besides a supply shortage, tilapia exports face many challenges such as trade friction, changes in exchange rates, and rising shipping costs.
