From 2015 to 2019 Egypt’s exports of frozen strawberries increased by 40% to reach a total of 140,000 tons representing 20% of the global export quantities at a value of $165 million. That significant increase in Egypt’s strawberries export was the result of an increase of funding by the Egyptian Agricultural Bank to farmers from 15,000 EGP per acre to 60,000 EGP. The state also increased the credit category per acre at a reduced interest rate subsidized by the Egyptian government.
