The Monthong variety, also known as Golden Pillow, is the most widespread durian in Thailand; It’s also rich and sweet in flavors which makes them the most famous exported variety. The flesh of the fruit is very meaty and can be considered one of the least pungent in both aroma and flavor. Another variety, Chanee, also known as Gibbon, is more pungent, softer, more buttery, and stronger in nearly every way than a Monthong. They are popular in exporting especially when Monthong is in low supply.
