Amagoia Anda, Margarita Ollé and Josep Maria Tutusaus founded ARDAI in 1988, continuing the tradition of Mestres Formatgers Artesans de Catalunya. The Mestres Formatgers Artesans de Catalunya is an association of Catalan specialty stores that collectively purchased and were associated with artisanal cheeses. Since its inception, ARDAI has taken over the baton of this group and began to develop commercial activities for artisanal cheeses and other specialty products. When the borders with the EU opened in 1992, ARDAI became the first company to start importing European full-ripe raw milk cheeses and signed agreements with the best European cheese processors. This agreement is still valid.
ARDAI's philosophy has always been to create a network of impeccable service to its customers where personal attention is always prevalent. With a team of 15 people, ARDAI primarily addresses the Catalan market, but also the Spanish market through a limited number of haute cuisine restaurants selected in the best cities and export markets.
It is sold in France, England, Germany, Italy and the USA. In December 2013, Margarita Ole and Josep Maria Tutusaus withdrew from the stake and their shares were taken over by the Canut family, which includes Enric on the ARDAI team. Enric Canut is arguably our country's most important cheese expert, with nearly 40 years of professional experience in the world of milk and cheese.
Today, ARDAI has a portfolio of over 400 customers including the best grocers, fine dining, catering and more.
