Wayne and Tom Gardner, who own the business, got their start in the cranberry trade by transporting cranberries for local growers and processors. They started growing their cranberries with two 1.5-acre bogs when Gardner Cranberry was founded in the early 1990s. More than 1,400 acres of their bogs are currently harvested and processed by us.
Seeing a requirement for extra new cranberry cleaning/getting stations in focal Wisconsin, the Gardners fabricated their most memorable plant in Pittsville in 1996. They built a warehouse and second station for receiving and cleaning raw materials in June 2003.
With the completion of their 78,750-square-foot cranberry juice processing facility in 2005, they entered the cranberry processing industry. Over 2 million gallons of cranberry juice concentrate and 5 million gallons of single-strength juice are produced annually by Badger State Fruit Processing. With the completion of their cutting-edge sweetened dried cranberry facility in 2013, Gardner expanded their product line to include Premium Dried Cranberries.
The plant produces 25 million pounds of finished product annually, and it will complete additional expansion in 2016.
Gardner's rapid expansion can be attributed to the steady increase in the number of cranberries grown in Wisconsin, in addition to a lot of hard work and dedication. The majority of the cranberries grown in the United States are produced in Wisconsin, according to current statistics.
