Types and grades of Gum Arabic
Hashab (Acacia Senegal):
Hashab known as hard gum for its glassy fracture is a pale to orange-brown colored solid substance, which consists of 85% of soluble dietary fibre and is known for many uses such as acting like a stabilizer for beverage emulsions and food items.
General specifications of Hashab grades:
Color: Pale white to yellowish/orange
Solubility: highly soluble in water, up to 50%
Moisture: less than 15%
Total ash: less than 4%
Viscosity: 50 -170 mpsc
Protein: 0.7-1.0%
Nitrogen: 0.106 - 0.156%
Acid Insoluble Residue: 0.35% max

Talha (Acacia Seyal):
Talha known as flaky gum for its easy to crumble to powder is a yellow-brown colored solid substance and is very soluble in water.
General Specifications of Talha grades:
Color: varies from white to red/brown
Solubility: 98% water soluble
Moisture: less than 15%
Total ash: less than 4%
Viscosity: 50-170 mpsc
Protein: 0.7-1.0%
Nitrogen: 0.106 - 0.156%
Acid Insoluble Residue: 0.35% max

• Sifting: 0.5mm – 4mm
