Company Story

image

Founded in 1821 in Sanlucar de Barrameda (Cadiz), Barbadillo is still a family business in its entirety with strong traditions and a cultural heritage that provides its solid foundations. In the cellars we continue to age our wines and vinegars in the same spaces in which we did 200 years ago, respecting the traditional methods to the maximum.

Sábalo
Sábalo
Sábalo is produced from 100% ecological Palomino Fino grapes and it is a spectacular wine, the true fruit of our many years of expertise. The grapes used to produce this wine are harvested in the white albariza soils of Sanlúcar, and as such the sea, the marshlands and the Guadalquivir River all form part of what is essentially Sábalo’s DNA.

There are so many different elements that have come together to create this wine: our extensive knowledge of the wine world, the relentless efforts of our growers, the mastery of our oenologist, and our slow fermentation process. The result is an excellent, refined and delicate wine that exalts all of the virtues of our ecological grapes, while still maintaining the true spirit of Bodegas Barbadillo.
Patinegro
Patinegro
Patinegro is a white wine from organic grapes and it is aged for 12 months in oak casks that previosly held Manzanilla. This wine has not been carified, and only lightly filtered.

This wine is named after the Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus), “Patinegro” in Spanish. It is a fidgety and flighty little bird which loves the dunes of Cadiz and can fly several thousand miles to nest here. The Kentish plover is threatened by human activity and by their pets who diturb the nesting sites.
