Turmeric is the spice that gives your dishes yellow colour. Turmeric has been used in Ceylon for thousands of years as a spice and in Ayurveda. These compounds are called curcuminoids, and the most important of which is Curcumin. Curcumin is the main active ingredient in Turmeric. Turmeric indigenous to Sri Lanka ( Curcuma longa ) has the highest levels of curcumin content in the wold at between 5 - 6 %. Turmeric has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.
Sri Lankan Cloves come from the mountainous central hills of Kandy. Cloves are hand picked at least 4 times per years. The buds are sun-dried for several days where they lose their pink color and turn brown. Our Spices are grown in the wild and as such could be considered organic. They are free of any pesticides and herbicides.
Our premium Ceylon Cinnamon sticks are cut to seven inches in length and packed in to a beautiful round jar. The eight ounce jar will contain between 30 to 35 seven inch Ceylon Cinnamon sticks. The Ceylon Cinnamon Sticks will stay fresh up to 2 years form order. Our Ceylon Cinnamon is gown free of any chemicals or pesticides and cured in the shade. The affinity between Cinnamon and Sri Lanka is so strong that the very botanical name of the spice - Cinnamomum Zeylanicum is derived from the island's former name, Ceylon.
