Greußener Salami was founded in 1864 by Carl Auener. After the reunification, the company was sold by the trustee. In September 1999, two young sausage specialists took over the company Greußener Salami after factory filed for bankruptcy with all 11 employees and the entire inventory. New opportunities were created through investments in new maturing and climate technology and through the new insulation of the factory buildings.
The new technology and the improved factory buildings, the prerequisites for top-quality products and team spirit were created with the traditional recipes. Today the company has 28 employees and is called Greußener Salami und Schinkenfabrik GmbH, a very popular Thuringian specialty.
