It is a winter variety of apples, with no certainty as to the parent variety. They are most likely a Golden Grimes seedling. The fruit is medium in size and conical in shape, with slight ribbing on the lateral surface. The skin is greenish-yellow or yellow in color, it is shiny and often russet. The creamy yellow flesh is tight. Golden Delicious fruits are characterized by a sweet wine taste and pleasant aroma. They are medium juicy and tasty.
They can be eaten raw and made into preserves for children.

It is an apple variety named after the combination of Jonagold and Golden Delicious. Jonagored apples are large or very large, broadly conical in shape. The skin is medium thick, smooth and greasy. It is almost entirely covered with a dark red blush with clear, darker stripes. The flesh is creamy, medium-firm and fine-grained. The fruits are juicy, crisp, very delicate and with a sweet and sour taste
