With humble beginnings, founders Dan Kosta and Michael Browne started out while working side-by-side at a local restaurant back in 1997. While having great passion but having low capital, Michael connected with key growers in Northern California, while Dan, along with the help of Chris Costello, a third partner, worked to market and sell the wines. In 2011, the 2009 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir was named Wine Spectator’s #1 Wine of the Year.
The winery welcomes innovation and remains committed to pushing boundaries, embracing the unconventional approach in their cellars to create elegant and powerful wines of tantalizing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These varietals reflect unparalleled growing conditions and winemaking approaches, and the winery is obsessed with capturing individual expressions of the state's best-growing regions. Near the coast of the station, Rita Hills and the wild, pristine Anderson Valley. By expertly blending their vineyards and their individual blocks and rows, they strive to represent the purest expression of each appellation's unique personality.
