Avocados are usually pear-shaped to round and they come in many different shades of green, ranging from pale green to almost black when fully ripe.
The most popular type is called Hass avocado, which is round with black skin. This is the one we primarily import from Mexico.
Calibers
For export to the EU, these are the calibers that the Mexican exporters classify, all in boxes of 4 kg for protection of the fruits.
Caliber sizes: 12 – 14 – 16 – 18 – 20 – 22 – 24 – 28 – 26
Individual boxes go through the "palletizing" process, called this way because they are stowed and tied with strips, and bases and corners of wood or fiberglass, in sets (known internationally as "pallets"), and which are considered the unit of packaging for transport. Said pallets must be subject to certain measures that are determined by the containers in which they are transported. The number of boxes per pallet is variable among packers, but generally it is constituted by a little more than
200 boxes of 4 kg. and a smaller number when it comes to boxes of 6 kg.

The product is typically shipped in boxes of 4kg with fruits for calibers 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24;
and in boxes of 10kg with fruits of caliber 26, 28, 30 and 32.
