Turkey is the second largest global producer of apricots. In the Turkish provinces of Malatya, Elazig and Nigde, apricots are produced for table consumption and for drying and in the other provinces only for table consumption. The Mediterranean and Aegean region offers the most favourable ecological conditions for the cultivation of early apricots.
