New Leaf Tree Syrups was co-founded in 2016 by Michael Farrell, Ph.D., who used to be Cornell University's Director of Maple Research. It is the result of years of innovative research and development to figure out how to get the most out of the wonderful and delicious diversity of our native woodlands.
The greatest variety of plant-based syrups in the world can be found in our distinctive syrups, which are made solely from the sap of rare tree species like maple, birch, walnut, beech, and others. A major supplier of certified organic tree saps and syrups that are used in beverages and packaged goods by food technologists and manufacturers.
Their goal when we started The Forest Farmers was to preserve and make use of the woodlands for as many different kinds of plants, animals, and products made from sustainable harvesting as we could. Diversity of foods results in healthier and happier individuals who can cook with and enjoy the bounty of nature, just as the diversity of species results in a healthier forest and the plants and animals that live there.
Every day, they put in a lot of effort to harvest from their woodlands sustainably the greatest variety of tree saps and other wild foods for adventurous chefs and people who just love to eat. They deliberately focused on all tree species that are capable of producing sweet and nutritious saps and syrups when they developed our signature product line, New Leaf Tree Syrups.
Protecting and improving our essential natural resources for present and future generations are one of our overarching objectives. They believe that sustainable harvesting of tree saps and other wild foods is one of the best ways to ensure the long-term viability of our forest resources. Proper forest stewardship is essential to our mission.
