Market leaders in the production of bone meal

Our company, now known as PROTEICAS S.A., began operations in the city of Bogota, Colombia, at the end of the 1960s when its founder, Chemical Engineer Julio Fernandez, mounted equipment he had designed to process the by-products of slaughter chicken plants (feathers and viscera), making him the industry's pioneer in Colombia.

The original machinery, which was inadequate for processing the volumes of raw materials available at the time and was small and inefficient, was replaced in 1993 with five pass cookers (digesters).

In 2003, as the poultry market began to expand as the new millennium got underway, it was decided to update our process to take advantage of cutting-edge technology by moving to a continuous cooker with a fully automated production line controlled by digital PLC programs. With the help of this technological advancement, we were able to produce a PREMIUM product with superior quality and uniformity, as well as meet the necessary quality criteria to compete on the global market and provide premium bone meal.
