Fina K and Lucky S, two South Australian tuna fishing companies, formed SEKOL in 1997 to produce approximately 500 tons of ranched Southern bluefin tuna annually. The two companies were founded in the 1970s and became quota holders for Southern bluefin tuna beginning in 1985.
On board our vessels, each fish is caught by hand, bled, cored, gilled, and gutted. A 60-minute drive from the farm site is a HACCP-accredited facility where packaging is completed. On Japanese Freezer vessels and Maersk sea containers, the product is delivered fresh, whole, gilled, and gutted in insulated cartons or super frozen to -60 degrees Celsius.
Sekol is a reputable and long-standing business in South Australia that supplies the domestic market as well as exports to other countries.
