Samson H. Chowdhury was born on September 25, 1925. After completing his education in India, he returned to what was then East Pakistan and settled in the village of Ataikura in the Pabna district. There, his father worked as a medical officer in an outpatient pharmacy. In 1952, he opened a small pharmacy in the village of Ataikura, about 100 miles from Dhaka, the capital of northwestern Bangladesh. Samson H. Chowdhury then started a pharmaceutical company in 1958 with three of his friends. When asked why he chose the name SQUARE, he replied, "I named it SQUARE because it was founded by four friends, and because it means accuracy, and perfection means quality." , reminds us to make the quality products they promised. Founded in 1958, the small company is now a publicly traded diverse group of companies with over 28,000 employees. The Group's current annual turnover is USD 616 million.
