The strong family roots in horticulture are where the passion for fresh produce comes from. From Jack Farmer's time working at his father's Woodville dairy before World War II to growing celery on his Flinders Park property. For many generations, the Farmer family has been committed to providing high-quality, fresh produce.
Jack's current endeavors originate in Virginia, where the family has been cultivating potatoes for the consumer market since 1956. The company has also maintained a vast almond orchard in the Adelaide Plains that produces a boutique blonde crop since its inception.
Barry Farmer saw an opportunity to build a packing facility in the middle of the 1980s, just as the potato board was about to collapse. He saw this as a chance to strengthen his position in the industry. In a more up-to-date version, the packing facility is still situated on the original Virginia grounds.
Expanding on the family heritage, Barry has developed the land holding from 40 sections of land to a noteworthy 85,000 sections of land. Between the fertile Adelaide Plains and the rich soils of South East South Australia, the agricultural land is spread out.
Barry's business has expanded to include Onions, Black Angus Cattle, and Merino Sheep since his significant purchase of Kangaringa in 2003, growing the plantings from 141 ha to more than 1600 ha.
The company is expanding into the automated world further with Matthew Farmer, who is the third generation of the family to run it. The Kangaringa Brand has gained international recognition for its quality thanks to Matthew's desire to expand, and it is now available in supermarkets in Taiwan, Malaysia, and Dubai.
Luca Farmer is beginning his formal education at a university in Agricultural Business Management. He is the fourth generation to join the family business. Luca is respected in the organization; Under the guidance of senior staff, his skill set continues to expand with each season.
