India is a major global exporter of fresh pomegranates, especially the Bhagwa variety and its elite sub-variety Super Bhagwa, known for bright red skin, bold dark red arils, high sweetness (14–17° Brix), and extended shelf life (up to 60 days under cold chain). Other export varieties include Ganesh, Ruby, Arakta, and Mridula, grown primarily in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Fruits are sorted, graded, and packed in 2.5 kg to 5 kg corrugated ventilated cartons with foam net protection, then exported under GlobalG.A.P., APEDA, and Phytosanitary-certified cold chain. Indian pomegranates are highly demanded in the Middle East, UK, Netherlands, and EU markets.
