Canadian's 2019-20 grain carryover is expected to be smaller than usual due to strong global demand this year due to COVID. The new crop year begins in August, just before the harvest season, and wheat, barley, oat, lentil, and chickpea carryover crops are expected to down. In addition to increasing exports to countries stockpiling their food reserves, COVID also made it possible for the Canadian agriculture industry to ship more volume as rail capacity significantly increased as other industries including forestry and oil & gas were limited by the global pandemic.
